How to pay with your tour booking?

To secure your booking with us, we require a deposit comprising 30% of the tour fee plus 100% of the flight and/or train fare. Once we receive the deposit, we will begin arranging your tour package. You’ll find detailed information about the exact deposit and balance amounts in your contract. Payments can be made to the accounts listed below or in person with cash or a UnionPay debit card at our Lhasa office.

Please ensure the banking service fee, as mentioned below, is covered to ensure we receive the correct amount. After making the payment, kindly fax or email us the bank voucher so we can verify the payment and provide confirmation via email.

When paying by credit card

There’s a small service fee of 4%. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and JCB.

If you prefer to pay by wire transfer

Please note there is a $25.00 service fee per transaction on the China side.

Can I withdraw cash from an ATM?

Yes, you can withdraw money from the ATM at the ICBC bank in Lhasa. These ATMs are accessible 24 hours and offer an English menu for your convenience. However, there are times when the ATMs might not work properly or may run out of cash. To avoid any inconvenience, it’s a good idea to carry some cash as a backup. When traveling outside of Lhasa, ATMs can be hard to find, so we recommend taking enough cash with you for those trips. If you have any more questions, just let us know!

Can I exchange money in banks in Tibet?

Yes, you can exchange US Dollars at the Bank of China. Some branches are equipped with special currency exchange machines, which require you to have your passport handy. If a branch does not have these machines or they are not functioning, you will need to fill out some forms, and the bank staff will assist you with the process. Please allow up to 30 minutes for this.

Using Foreign Currencies and Cards in Tibet: Can I Use Credit and ATM Cards?

In Tibet, only Chinese Yuan is accepted as a payment method. While credit cards are occasionally accepted, this is primarily limited to a few establishments in Lhasa. Cash remains the predominant payment method throughout Tibet, especially when you’re traveling beyond the capital. For a smooth experience, it’s advisable to carry enough cash for your journey.
